One of the most reliable methods to restrict the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of the people which mustn't be able to open it. There are numerous reasons why you should do this. For instance, you may want a certain person not to be able to see your site, or you could limit the access for an entire state. You can even block IP addresses if you notice that there are too many browser requests from them, if a large number of spam comments are left in your Internet sites or if a script login page has been loaded numerous times. In each of these scenarios, the traffic is most probably fake and has been generated by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any suspicious IP address, so as to be on the safe side. In this way, you will also avoid the chance of your web server getting overloaded by many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Cloud Web Hosting
If you have a
cloud web hosting account with us and you wish to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia CP. Using a really simple interface, you could prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to perform this is to log within to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You shall not need to do anything difficult if you would like to block an entire network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the same section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our
semi-dedicated server accounts come with a really simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that will allow you to restrict individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your sites with no more thana few mouse clicks and you will not have any troubles to do that even if this is your first website hosting account. When you check out the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia Control Panel, you'll just need to choose the domain or subdomain you want from a drop-down list, then enter the IP address in a box that you will see there and you will be good to go. To prohibit the access for an entire network, you will need to leave one or more octets blank. For instance, if you type 123.123. and don't enter anything inside the third and fourth positions, our hosting server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
