When a page on your Internet site doesn't load, an error message will be displayed to the visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages which will appear, but what's common for all of them is that they're generic and most likely shall have absolutely nothing in common with the design of your Internet site, which may be frustrating for any visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting providers have introduced a feature known as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, visitors shall see your unique content, which may be informative or humorous, based on your choice, and that will match the overall style and design of your website, so the pages will not look like they're not part of your site at all. You may use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Web Hosting
If you buy a cloud web hosting from our company, you shall be able to set custom made error pages for your Internet sites quickly and easily, because this function is a part of all of our packages. Once you've created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. In the pop-up which will appear, you shall see drop-down options menus for all 4 kinds of errors and for each of them you can choose an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a custom page. Should you choose the 3rd option, you should only enter the URL to the file you have uploaded and save the change. A different way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to add several lines of program code in it. In case you don't have preceding experience or if you're just not sure how to do that, you may simply copy and paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your web sites in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you can set tailor-made error pages for any of them with ease through our in-house made Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With only several mouse clicks in the Hosted Domains section, you could modify the default setting from a system page to a tailor-made one for any of the four error types. All you need to do is provide a link to each and every file that you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If required, you shall be able to revert this modification at any time and in exactly the same way. If you'd like, you can use an .htaccess file as well. It should be created/uploaded in the domain or subdomain folder linked to the site whose error pages you intend to change and the content for such a file can be found in our Help article about this matter.
